 | Keith Northover Destination: Music Teacher Path: HCC's transfer degree program in Music Keith Northover followed a slightly unique path to HCC. He attended the University of Maryland for a year before following a friend’s advice and transferring to HCC. “The university wasn’t a good fit for me,” Keith says. “I felt like a small fish in a really big pond, whereas at HCC I haven’t had a class over 30 students and the teachers really care about me.” Since transferring to HCC and switching his major from science to music, Keith has excelled. He is a music tutor, a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honors society, and plays in a number of community orchestras and ensembles throughout the metro area. After graduating, Keith plans to transfer to the University of Florida to become a music teacher. Keith attributes part of his decision to teach to the faculty at HCC. “I was really influenced to become an educator by some great teachers at HCC that are passionate about both their subject and their students,” he says. |
