Continuous Internal Improvement

Vital Signs

HCC's Vital Signs are internal organizational performance measures.  The vital signs track indicators for the college's 5 functional areas (VPAA, VPAF, VPIT, VPSS, President's area) as well as each of the college's units.  Area/unit managers maintain trend data, establish action plans, and track results with the support of the Planning, Research, and Organizational Development (PROD) office.

Student Learning Outcomes Assessment

The Office of Learning Outcomes Assessment (LOA) works to support the Howard Community College mission of excellence by promoting and encouraging active and ongoing assessment activities across academic areas.  LOA works with faculty to evaluate all programs, assessing student learning outcomes in and out of the classroom.  Programs led by associated staff that contribute to student learning are assisted by the PROD office.
