So when her husband, a marine, was transferred to Maryland in 2012, she decided to enroll at HCC and pursue a degree in a medical field she has always admired. When asked how HCC stacks up against her previous educational experiences, she’s quick to praises the professors, adding “they push me to do more to achieve my goals.”
While completing her program requirements and attending school activities, Mara managed to become a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society and was named the Outstanding Student of 2014-15 for the Health Sciences division. Also an accomplished artist, several of her prints and ceramic pieces were featured in student art shows.
Mara graduateed in the spring of 2015 with her associate degree in diagnostic medical sonography, and is eager to enter the job force to put all of her education and training to good use.
