AC & STEPPENWOLF = Partnership
A very long story short; life spills into magic now and then.  A year and a half ago,
the universe magically threw together Alexandra Billings and Susan Kramer
via a mutual friend, Marlo Bernier...  which resulted in a joyful, ever-life-changing
summer intensive with Alex... and The Viewpoints!

Summer_Intensive

And there we are, were... last summer.  And it was home.  Alex and Sue saw these
artists grow at an unknown, unexpected pace inside their ART!  It took our breath away!
We needed more!  We knew AC needed more!  AC was READY FOR MORE!
AND NOW... the Dream has come TRUE!
A two week ACTING WORKSHOP THIS SUMMER!

What's the real STEPPENWOLF TIE-IN?
Perhaps this is another story... (we REALLY need to write about this soon)!
BUT, IN THE MEANTIME... If you'd like to read Alex's take on last summer's intensive...
This is a beautiful re-cap... and more!  In her own words, "DO IT" CLICK HERE!

About STEPPENWOLF Classes West:

What We're About
Steppenwolf Classes West are exclusive scene study classes taught by members of Stepppenwolf’s acclaimed ensemble as well as guest teachers intimate with our theatre’s work.

Our Philosophy
We grew up in an actor-driven theatre where trust, challenge and practice led to individual and collaborative growth.  The goal for our Los Angeles classes is the same as our goal in Chicago at our theatre and summer school:

We want to create an environment where your work is respected
and practicing your craft is paramount...

These classes are a place for you to practice, to challenge yourself, to grow.

 INSTRUCTOR BIOS & Quotes:

Alexandra Billings and Eric Hunicutt join HCC's AC in a first-ever partnership with STEPPENWOLF Classes West, from Los Angeles, CA!

Alexandra Billings:

  • A Quote about "The Viewpoints"... written just for us!:  Viewpoints is abut working from the inside out and the outside in. It's about what's possible. It's about finding your instinct and owning your power. It's about the Imagination and the power that only you have. It's about the Truth. Your Truth.
  • Alex's Bio:  Ms. Billings is the Viewpoints Associate at The Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago, and has taught at the Steppenwolf Schools in both Chicago and Los Angeles since 1998. Alexandra has studied Viewpoints under Tina Landau, one of the originators of Viewpoints along with Anne Bogart. She has also taught Viewpoints - as both an acting tool and a rehearsal technique - at Universities and theaters across the country since 1995, including the University of Chicago, the University of Illinois, Louis University, Depaul University, and has been on staff at both Act One Studios and for the Illinois Theatre Alliance. Ms Billings is currently on staff as a Professor of Viewpoints at California State University since 2008.
  • Alex's Website:  http://www.alexandrabillings.com

Eric Hunicutt:

  • A quote about "Improvisation"... written just for us!: "Playing": it's about discovery, not invention, about being engaged, not feeling the pressure to be engaging... something we all did really well when we were 5 and in the sandbox, yet seem to have forgotten in the years since. Improvisation is all about recapturing that sense of freedom, play, and permission.
  • Eric's Bio:  Eric Hunicutt is an actor, director, writer, and teacher currently living and working in Los Angeles. He has been performing scripted and improvised theater since he was 15 years old; everything from Shakespeare at Lincoln Center to sketch comedy in dive bars. Eric has studied and performed with The Second City Chicago, Improv Olympic Chicago & Los Angeles, Comedy Sportz, and is an alumnus of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Eric is a member of the acclaimed Chicago improv ensemble The Reckoning (called "hands down the best in Chicago"), and has toured colleges, theatres, and festivals performing and teaching the art of improvisation for the past ten years.  Eric has taught across the country (and Canada, too!) at universities, theatres, improv and comedy festivals, and currently teaches at Improv Olympic West, Warner Loughlin Studios, the American Academy of Dramatic Art Los Angeles, and is a faculty member at Steppenwolf Classes West: http://www.steppclasseswest.com/index.html  For more info about Eric, please visit his website:  http://www.erichunicutt.com/Site/Welcome.html
