has performed in a number of capacities with HCC's Student Arts Collective over the past several years - most recently as Co-Host and
performer (with her sister, Ashanti,) for AC's Premiere this fall.  She
is pleased to be a part of AC's first musical theatre revue; THE BIZ.  Past AC credits include instrutor for AC's summer progams for teens and pre-teens, stage manager for THE CRUCIBLE, and performer in OURSPACE and YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN.  Candace's work as Costume Designer will be featured in AC's fall production of THE FOREIGNER.

SARAH L. ESBRANDT is currently a full-time student at Howard Community College. Sarah enjoyed performing as a vocalist for past ‘Arts Collective Coffeehouses, but THE BIZ marks her first appearance in a staged production at Howard Community College. She is thrilled to be a part of this Musical Theatre Revue and has enjoyed working with such a fine ensemble.

BLAKE GERSHMAN is having a blast working on his second production for Howard Community College’s Student Arts Collective (formerly the Student-Alumni Arts) – his first being OUR TOWN; AC’s last production inside the Theatre Outback. He finds it a real honor to work with such great people. He would like to say “Thank You” to Jenny, for giving him this opportunity. Musical theater rocks!

MELISSA FRANCIES IVESTER is a Theatre Performance major at HCC.  She has performed in the past four productions for HCC's Student Arts Collective; Betty in THE CRUCIBLE, an ensemble member in OURSPACE, Sally Brown in YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN... and now THE BIZ.  Melissa will also be seen in AC's upcoming fall production of THE FOREIGNER in the role of Catherine.  She has been doing theatre on ice since the age of 10 and is a company member of "The Next Ice Age."  She is extremely thrilled and honored to be a part of this first-ever musical theatre revue.  "Kisses to the cast and love to family and friends for their constant support!  Mwah!"

ABOUT "THE BIZ"
The Student Arts Collective (AC), now in its 13th season, (formally, the Student-Alumni Arts at HCC,) officially kicks off it’s new name and a new season with THE BIZ, a project inspired by Howard Community College’s Arts and Humanities newest theatre major; Musical Theatre.  Valerie Lash, HCC’s Arts and Humanities Chair, recruited AC’s expertise in producing and putting-together the college’s first-ever Musical Theatre Revue.  From the outset, the goals have been about setting a precedent for future possibilities – on and off campus – as well as maintaining AC’s consistent goal of raising its artistic bar; hence the extremely versatile, experienced cast featured in The Biz, this first time around!  The Biz, in many ways, is an original Musical Theatre Review – audiences will enjoy this fresh, realistic take on Show Business through the eyes of HCC’s Student Arts Collective.

Howard Community College's Smith Theatre is located
inside the new Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center at
10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia, MD  21044.
