Back to HCC by popular demand!  The U. S. Navy Commodores Jazz Ensemble will perform a diverse mix of traditional big band favorites and cutting edge original music.  The group features some of the best jazz instrumentalists in the country and is led by Senior Chief Musician Philip M. Burlin.

The Dover Quartet, formerly known as the Old City String Quartet was the Grand Prize-winner of the 2011 Fischoff Competition. Formed at the Curtis Institute of Music in 2008, the Quartet draws from the musical lineage of both the Vermeer and Guarneri Quartets, but brings a youthful enthusiasm and musical conviction to the repertoire that is truly its own

A musical celebration of Dr. Tom Benjamin, composer, music theorist, clarinetist, and jazz musician.  First half of the concert will feature original compositions by Dr. Benjamin, performed by members of the HCC Music Faculty, and the second half of the program will showcase Dr. Benjamin in performance with the Jazz Faculty of HCC’s Music Department.

As they enter their 12th year of making music together, this tightly knit ensemble has firmly established itself as an important voice in the world of chamber music. The Jupiters have joined the faculty of the University of Illinois as String Quartet-in-residence in addition to holding visiting faculty residencies at Oberlin Conservatory and Adelphi University and a multi-year residency at Atlanta's Spivey Hall.
