The African Art Museum of Maryland
The African Art Museum of Maryland is dedicated to collecting, exhibiting and preserving for the public the art of Africa. The Museum is further dedicated to increasing the awareness of African art and culture while encouraging a broader understanding and deeper appreciation of the diverse art and culture of the continent of Africa.
Candlelight Concert Society
The Candlelight Concert Society (CCS) is a Maryland-based concert presenter. CCS offers professional world-class chamber music concerts, children’s programs (CandleKids), community outreach programs, master classes, and pre-concert lectures and discussions.
The Columbia Festival of the Arts
Each year, the Columbia Festival of the Arts presents a 16-day multidisciplinary arts festival comprised of both free and ticketed events in multiple locations, indoor and outdoor, throughout Howard County. The Festival begins with LakeFest, a three-day, free outdoor event featuring art exhibits, live performances, kids’ entertainment and crafts, demonstrations, fine arts and fine crafts, and a variety of activities for all ages. Following the LakeFest weekend, the remaining days of the Festival are comprised of performances by national and international touring artists, literary and film presentations, fine art exhibits, workshops and master classes.
The Columbia Film Society
The Columbia Film Society presents an annual film series which features awardwinning and intriguing foreign films in the Smith Theatre. Those interested in attending the series must subscribe for the season.
Howard County Poetry & Literature Society
HoCoPoLitSo is a nonprofit organization designed to enlarge the audience for contemporary poetry and literature and celebrate culturally diverse literary heritages. HoCoPoLitSo accomplishes its mission by sponsoring readings with critically acclaimed writers; literary workshops; programs for students; and The Writing Life, a writer-to-writer interview television show.
The Howard County Arts Council
The Arts Council was established to foster the arts in our community. They are devoted to nurturing local artists and arts organizations, furthering the public’s appreciation of the arts, and making sure the arts are accessible to all — regardless of age, ability, or background.
Howard County Center of African American Culture
The Howard County Center of African American Culture Inc. is an independent, non-profit, educational organization dedicated to the collection, preservation, and interpretation of African American history and culture of Howard County, Maryland and the surrounding region.
Red Branch Theatre Company
Acclaimed as “one of the most consistently excellent theaters in the region” by Broadwayworld.com (2010), Red Branch Theatre Company has entertained theatregoers since 2008. The company strives to bring together artists and audiences in the Baltimore/Washington community and beyond by providing theatrical work that is exciting, affordable, powerful, and thoughtprovoking.
