In Focus: Howard Community College
Hosted by Howard Community College President Dr. Kate Hetherington, In Focus is a new half-hour program that features community offerings and events… on and around the HCC campus, through candid interviews with students, commentary from administrators and faculty, and informative outlooks from community members. In Focus airs on HCC-TV on channel 96 (Comcast) or 41 (Verizon) in Howard County, Maryland and on 41 in Anne Arundel County on Wednesday at 11am, 4pm & 7pm and Saturday at 7pm. In this edition of In Focus, Dr. Kathleen Hetherington discusses the newly opened Health Sciences Building and the unique programs HCC offers to students interested in pursuing careers in the Health Sciences fields. Joining her will be Dr. Georgene A. Butler, PhD, RN and Chair, Health Sciences Division who discusses the new allied health programs (Dental Hygienist, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Public Health) and the added technology; ambulance simulator, radiology suite, mentis simulator, nursing simulation suites and debriefing rooms. Bill Fisher, MEd, RCIS, Associate Professor and Program Director/Cardiovascular Technology gives us an overview of the cardiovascular Technology Program and highlights the mentis simulator to open clogged values and insert stents. Assefa Fisseha, MSc. R.T. (R) (CT) (MR) (ARRT), Assistant Professor and Program Director/Radiologic Technology gives us an overview of radiologic technology. Nancy Calder, MT (ASCP), MAEd, and Program Director/Medical Laboratory Technician gives us an overview of the MLT field, and Ken Crivelli, PT, MA, LAT, ATC, Assistant Professor and Program Director/Physical Therapist Assistant Program shares an overview of the PTA program and how to work directly with patients in their physical therapy routines.
