A Look Ahead
Curious about what's going on at HCC in the next few weeks? Each week students in HCC's TV/ Radio program join Radio Instructor Louisa Jonas for A Look Ahead in a conversation highlighting upcoming events around campus. Then in the second half of the show, Radio Instructor Ray Hoffmann conducts an in-depth interview with a guest from the campus about one of the upcoming events.
A Look Ahead streams exclusively on HCC Radio The Dragon each weekday at 12:30 p.m. New shows begin on Mondays and repeat each weekday so you have plenty of opportunities to logon, listen, and plan your calendar. Note: This show only streams during the fall and spring semesters. Stay tuned!
Barry and the G-Man
HCC Radio students Barry Geis and Glen Audet have teamed up to produce a weekly radio show, Barry and the G-Man, that will bring you back to the1980s. Barry was one of the original students from the very first radio class at HCC and Glen began his radio studies just last year. Together the two have combined to deliver a cool, hour-long music show filled with songs from the 80s.
Check out and tune into Barry and the G-man every Thursday at 7:00p.m. with repeat performances Saturday at 11a.m. and Monday at 3 p.m. exclusively on HCC Radio The Dragon.
Global Guru
Global Guru is weekly three-minute audio tour of places in the world that often only get a single story line in the American media, or no story line at all. Global Guru celebrates the oddities, the curiosities, and the unknowns of global culture, from courtship played out in a horse race in Kazhakstan to the hidden messages in Zulu beadwork. At Howard Community College "You Can Get There From Here." Tune in each week to Global Guru on HCC Radio The Dragon, and you can get to Thailand, Tanzania, Russia, China, Italy....and back again in three minutes.
Global Guru streams on HCC Radio The Dragon Tuesdays at 8:00 a.m., with repeat performances Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. Tune in each week for a new episode.
Person to Person
HCC Radio The Dragon is proud to present its first student-led team production for the station. Person to Person is a half-hour interview show, conceived by HCC radio student and host Glen Audet, where ordinary people are brought into the station to talk about extraordinary moments of selflessness in their lives. For the first episode, Glen talks to The Hogettes, the Redskins unofficial male cheerleading squad, about two decades of service to the community. In the second episode of Person to Person, Glen explores Autism and we hear from a child with autism, his mother, and the Executive Director of the Howard County Autism Society.
Person to Person can be heard exclusively on HCC Radio The Dragon Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., Thursdays at 2:00 p.m. and Sundays at 5:00 p.m.
Showcase
Radio students in our academic program at Howard Community College produce work with the aim of it streaming on HCC Radio The Dragon. Whether broadcasting an interview with an instructor, a news story, or a feature, Showcase streams the best of what our talented students have produced. In addition to working as producers, HCC radio students gain experience in program direction as well, reviewing and selecting diverse national and international professionally produced pieces to stream on Showcase.
Showcase can be heard exclusively on HCC Radio The Dragon Mondays at 8:00 p.m. with repeat performances Fridays at 7:00 a.m. and Sundays at 12:00 p.m.
Sonic IDs
HCC Radio Sonic IDs are original programming produced by radio students at Howard Community College. They’re generally 30- 60 second snapshots of sound that answer a small question, set a mood, or are just playful. Each paints an audio picture of a specific place. Together HCC Radio students’ sonic IDs weave an audio quilt of life here at Howard Community College, and in some cases the surrounding community.

World Vision Report
Each week HCC Radio The Dragon streams select features from World Vision Report, The Edward R. Murrow Award-winning program that captures the human drama behind global issues and events. Stories range from 3 -15 minutes and feature some of public radio most talented producers presenting global stories, from unsafe drinking water in Gaza, to AIDS prevention in South Africa, to grandmothers learning Kung Fu in Nairobi.

The Writing Life
From four Maryland poets to a pair of Nobel Laureates - Saul Bellow and Seamus Heaney - more than sixty poets and writers have appeared on HoCoPoLitSo's Cable TV series, The Writing Life, since 1986. The half hour shows are hosted by well-known Baltimore-Washington writers, and guests range from interesting newer writers to some of the most distinguished names in contemporary letters. HCC Radio The Dragon streams select conversations from The Writing Life to appear on the radio version of the show.
