Howard Community College is proud to present the highly anticipated exhibit of original works by Auguste Rodin, “Rodin: In His Own Words, Selections from the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Foundation," from December 8, 2007 through February 17, 2008 in the impressive new Peter & Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center on the college campus. 

“Rodin: In His Own Words” features three galleries of works by Rodin paired with quotes by the sculptor that illuminate the art and the artist.  Over 30 bronze sculptures by Rodin are showcased, including an informative display of the “Ten Step Lost-Wax Process of Auguste Rodin’s Sorrow.”   Gallery tours are scheduled on selected days throughout the exhibit, along with numerous educational activities and events, including a video on the making of “Gates of Hell,” and a panel discussion on Camille Claudel - Rodin’s mistress, student, and a brilliant sculptor in her own right.

Gerald Cantor Foundation circulates traveling exhibitions of its superb collection of Rodin bronzes.  Foundation-organized exhibitions have been seen in more than150 venues around the globe. The Cantor Foundation was established in 1978 to promote and encourage appreciation of excellence in the arts and to enhance cultural life internationally through the support of art exhibitions, scholarship, and the endowment of galleries at major museums around the world.
