Suspension and Dismissal of Employees Without Tenure (Term of Contract) Procedure (63.12.04)

College Policy Number/Title:

Employees without tenure (term of contract) are “at will” meaning that the employment relationship can be ended at any time for any reason or no reason by the college or the employee.  See “Employment” policy 63.03 and “Employment Definitions” procedure 63.03.01 for definition of term of contract.

For this reason, in most cases suspension or dismissal of employees without term of contract is not necessary since these employees are normally hired on a temporary basis without a contract or written agreement of any kind.  Therefore, the employment would simply end without need for suspension or dismissal.  That action is final.

In cases where non-term of contract employees do have contracts, such as adjunct credit faculty members, the president may dismiss such employees.

Effective Date:  8/1/2000
