College Policy Number/Title:

An employee-funded legal plan was established to provide personal legal services for eligible employees, their spouses, domestic partners, dependent children, and retirees.  A complete list of services and other information regarding the legal plan are on file in the office of human resources.

Eligibility

Eligible employees include:

  • full- and part-time position control/budgeted employees
  • adjunct faculty
  • hourly/temporary employees
  • retirees

Eligible dependents include:

  • spouses and domestic partners
  • unmarried children and domestic partner's unmarried children provided that the IRS definition of dependent is met.

Enrollment

Employees and retirees may enroll in the plan at any time.  Position control/budgeted employees who enroll in their first 30 days of employment or during the annual open enrollment period will pay premiums through payroll deduction after taxes.  Position control/budgeted employees who enroll at any other time, hourly/temporary employees, adjunct faculty, and retirees cannot participate in payroll deduction and must pay premiums directly to the legal services vendor.  After joining the legal plan, participants cannot terminate from the plan for a minimum of one full year.
