College Policy Number/Title:
The college provides a Short-Term Disability Insurance (STD) plan and a Long-Term Disability Insurance (LTD) plan. If employees are members of the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System (MSRPS), they must complete Form MSRS46 when going out on a disability leave.
Coordination with Retirement Plans
Employees should consult the college benefits administrator and/or retirement plan counselor in the event of long-term disability absence.
Other employment while receiving short- or long-term disability insurance benefits may result in cancellation of the disability payments and/or termination of employment unless such employment has been an approved condition of the leave.
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Leave
STD and/or LTD may be available for employees on FMLA leave, but STD and/or LTD should be applied for separately using the college Leave Request Form. Also see procedure "Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Leave" procedure 63.08.15.Effective Date: 8/1/2000
