College Policy Number/Title:
In compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 and amendments, all employees hired or re-hired by Howard Community College on or after November 7, 1986, are required to provide proof of work eligibility and identification and complete the employee portion of the Department of Homeland Security United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USICS) I-9 form on or before the first day of employment, but no later than three days following the first day of employment. Supervisors and department heads are responsible for making sure that this process is complete within the first three business days following employment. Proof of work eligibility may be established by presentation of the appropriate documents as determined by the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Services. Documentation forms are available in the office of human resources.
Work permits are required for persons under 18 years of age.
